SHADEboys dance party TOMORROW!

…at 8PM EDT on Twitter at hashtag #SHADEboys.

(EDT = Eastern Daylight Time, so when someone writes “EST” during the summer, THEY’RE DOING IT WRONG.)

/public service announcement

SO! a couple people, when i announced the dance party last week, said, “but i can’t dance!” which made me realize there might be some confusion. which i will now attempt to clear up.

1. you don’t have to actually dance. if you WANT to dance and share a video of it, or if you spontaneously decide, during the party, to dance around your living room or the coffee shop or whatever, AWESOME.

2. SHADEboys dance parties are about sharing videos of people dancing.

Examples:

3. what’s even AWESOMER is if you make up a story about it. basically, lie.

FOR INSTANCE: here are (left to right as the dudes are positioned at the beginning) me and Zachary and Martin ten years from now. we are the best men at Dylan’s wedding! we had to change our names to fool the DMP.

OBVIOUSLY this is just a made-up story. no one would ever marry Dylan.

4. PRIZES: some sweet SHADE swag packs, which now include buttons that say I Heart Logan, I Heart Martin, and I guess some that say I Heart Zachary, too. you’ve NEVER had a chance to win those before! plus there’s some seriously cool stuff made by Team Kilt members:

5. HOW YOU WIN PRIZES. as i explained last week, you get one (1) chance at a Shade swag pack by posting any dance video you like. make sure you use the #SHADEboys hashtag or we won’t see it!

but if you find a video where you can make up some story about YOU dancing with one (or more) of US, then you get five (5) chances.

EXAMPLE:

“This is my husband/brother/uncle/grandfather, who met Zachary when he was only six months old, and already he was chubby, super cute, and an excellent dancer!”

OR

“I work at Subway, and we totally caught Logan (with a Mohawk!) dancing on close circuit camera.”:

OR…

no, wait, Martin wants us to save his video for tomorrow night.

see how easy that is?

so….COME DANCING!

(hat tip to @jenniferstrand for the Beyonce/guys in kilts video!)

It’s the one-year anniversary of Olympic Swimmers’ first full-length album. If you’ve ignored my incessant promotion of this lovely Glasgow band and not bought it yet, why not celebrate this milestone with a listen?
My favourite track is still the first I ever heard, “Where It Snows”, but “Bricks of Our Building” brings a wee tear to my eye on occasion.

Dancing with the SHADEboys!

Logan: ever since last year’s SHADEboys dance party brought Shade readers to their feet, rocking their butts off, we’ve been asked to do another.

Martin: This was before I was on Twitter, so it could’ve been even better.

Logan: RIGHT. Zach and i needed a third dude to perform our awesome dance in the Munich Apple store, so we roped in my little brother Dylan (who is little only in age—he’s actually taller than me). i’m in the middle, Z is the cool guy on the left, and Dylan is the vaguely Jesse Eisenberg-y looking guy on the right:

Zachary: Classic. One of our best moments.

Martin: Nae bad for a bunch of straight lads.

Logan: um. well, we’ve seen how well you dance. Z shared a video during the party of you and him and your friends:

In this EW article (beware of SPOILERS here!) George R. R. Martin talks about killing off characters and why readers should feel something about it. This would be great to point out to students someday. The majority of teenagers have a hard time understanding the point of…

speaking as one of these dead characters, i’m glad readers feel something when we die. i’m sorry my mistakes cause such pain in those i love, not just my family and friends and Aura, but readers, too.

and i do love you all.

I’m writing the 3A portion of “Shattered” at the moment, and this seemed apt.

Here’s more of Wilde’s letter if you’d like to see it.

2nd draft of Bridge cover copy

this, i think, is an improvement over yesterday’s first draft, which sounded a little clunky to me when i read it out loud.

whaddya think, peeps?

——

Logan is barely seventeen, and barely dead. To find eternal rest, the ghost punk rocker must make peace with his brother Mickey, before his guilt over Logan’s death drives him to suicide.

Krista sees ghosts everywhere, but never the one she needs most. A chance boardwalk encounter with Logan turns her Senior Week party into a rescue mission. Can her own grief give her the strength to save Mickey’s life?

Loaded with bonus material, the “Bridge” ebook is the perfect introduction to the young-adult Shade trilogy—a tale of ghosts, music, and everlasting love.

HELP—need feedback on my cover copy!

here’s what i have for the “Bridge” blurb:

——

Logan Keeley is barely seventeen and barely dead. To find his eternal rest, this ghost punk rocker must make peace with his brother Mickey, who blames himself for Logan’s senseless death.

Since Mickey can’t see or hear ghosts, Logan seeks someone to speak for him, before his brother’s guilt and grief drive him to suicide. Can a stranger on the boardwalk—a girl haunted by her own ghosts—deliver the words that will save Mickey’s life?

This stand-alone Shade series story, one that Kirkus called “intense and earnest,” is a lyrical tale of forgiveness, acceptance, and brotherhood.

Loaded with bonus material—including Logan’s songwriting journal and an interview with the Keeley Brothers—the “Bridge” ebook is a must for any Shade series fan. It’s also the perfect introduction to this teen paranormal trilogy about ghosts, music, and everlasting love.

whaddya think? be honest. is it clear or confusing? does it make you want to buy it or say ‘no thanks’? did i miss any commas?

tweet me at @keeley_logan with your feedback. THANKS, PEEPS!

(“Bridge“‘ll be out next week—can’t wait!)
